AKF Architect Private Workshop

Workshop Overview

The AKF Architect Private Workshop is designed to arm product architects of all levels with the tools they need to develop, analyze, improve and control highly scalable, fast time to market, low cost of operations, highly available, low cost of development products. The course is a “deep dive” into AKF proprietary models, methods, approaches and principles. This is an interactive class where you learn from both AKF instructors and classroom peers. The course is offered remotely over video as well as in our classroom in Scottsdale, AZ.

Lead time for Booking: 1 month lead time

Format: Four Zoom sessions of 3-4 hours each

    Minimum Attendees: 8 people

    How is the workshop structured?

The workshop is delivered in multiple collaborative sessions over a 4-day event. While a member of the AKF team will lead the discussion in each session, much of the interaction comes from the participants themselves. We keep the session size limited (maximum of 25 attendees) so that each attendee can be an active part of the conversation, share experiences, and ask questions of other architects. You’ll leave the workshop with principles, tools, and examples that you can continuously apply to your architectural endeavors.

    Who should attend the workshop?

Our event is designed for product architects at all levels. It is a deeper dive into the technical discussions offered within the AKF CTO Bootcamp. Although nearly any technical organization would benefit from the lessons shared in the workshop, our sessions will provide the most value to companies building core products or services (e.g. SaaS, eCommerce) rather than back office enterprise architects focusing on employee enabling systems.

What topics are covered in the workshop?

The following is a partial list of the topics covered in the course:

    • AKF Risk Model: Our viewpoint of risk and how to manage it successfully in your architecture, people, and processes.
    • AKF Scale Cube: Our approach to designing highly scalable architectures.
    • AKF Availability Cube and Availability Evaluation: Our approach to designing highly available architectures and how to calculate theoretical availability of a system.
    • Availability and Scalability Patterns and Anti-Patterns: Our patterns for developing services oriented architectures and micro-services.
    • Creating Fault Isolation: The importance of isolation for availability and time to market.
    • Architecture Principles: An in-depth look at the top architecture principles and how to apply them.
    • Domain Driven Design: The most effective techniques to align the architecture, organization, and processes to your current and future market.
    • Big Data Best Practices: A discussion on big data approaches, patterns, anti-patterns and best practices.
    • ML Introduction: An overview of the different types of ML, how to apply them to your product, and our ML maturity model.
