Greg is a seasoned leader with 14 years of experience in technology and site operations and 25 years of experience in management and team building.

Greg spent over 12 years at eBay, leading QA, capacity planning, and data center teams with teams as large as 95, capital budgets exceeding $100 million, and operational budgets exceeding $20 million.  Greg navigated numerous challenges in an environment with weekly major product releases and rapid growth straining site performance.  He also led the infrastructure shift from colo to a mix of owned data centers and colo facilities as well as the first significant DR site.

Greg has developed site growth models used to forecast future server needs and data center capacity as well as creating the financial analysis used to make “build vs buy” decisions.  Greg also lead operations teams in developing standard and emergency operating procedures, training and drills to optimize availability, effectively manage incidents, and ensure infrastructure can enable the business and not hinder it.

In addition to his experience at eBay, Greg was the Director of Site Operations at Ask.com where he was responsible for systems administration during a data center move and virtualization effort.  Prior to Ask, Greg was a manufacturing engineer at Case IH, and a quality engineer at Johnson Controls.  Before his civilian career, Greg was an officer in the United States Army.

Greg has an MBA with concentrations in Marketing and Finance from the Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy.
